Having the proper equipment can make or break a logging operation. We work hard to maintain the tractors and equipment we use and are proud to showcase it here.

At Kimball & Son’s Logging and Trucking, we feel that the commitment to our tools is an extension of the Kimball Promise. By continuing to deliver on that promise with each project, we are able create sustainability in the forest and with our clients.

Feller Buncher

Our crew runs a Komatsu xt 430. This is a tracked machine that allows the operator to maneuver in tight spots without the need to drive to each tree, this results in less damage to the stand and soils. Our feller buncher is able to climb relatively steep slopes and it can gently place the tree down where it wants.

Chipper

We currently run a Morbark 30/36 Biomass Chipper which allows us an efficient means of obtaining a maximum wood yield. With this machine, we are able to convert tree tops, limbs, small trees, and non-commercial species into a usable product. Our wood chips are brought to area mills and burned to provide electricity.

Track Skidder

We also include a CAT D4H track skidder in our line up. We use this handy machine in the most adverse conditions. It moves much slower than a wheeled skidder, but has very little ground pressure. The track skidder costs more to operate but can be used when necessary.

Grapple Skidder

We continue to be impressed with the performance of our CAT 535 D grapple skidder. This machine can operate on almost any ground condition. The CAT skidder is efficient on both long and short pulls because it is able to handle large and small loads of felled trees, aka "hitches," with equal ease.

Loader

Barko does not disappoint with their Barko 495B series loader and bar saw. This machine sits at the hub of the operation. Its job is to sort trees, delimb logs and pulp wood, and feed the chipper. I personally run this machine, which means I take the time to assure you the most value in your stumpage.
