Employee Spotlight
Happy Independence Day! This is my favorite holiday. I love seeing the patriotism, parades, family time, summer, and sun. No one expects any gifts on this day and everyone seems to just really enjoy and embrace their freedoms. I thought it would be fun to do a little “employee spotlight” type of blog post to give you a little glimpse into our people! We don’t have many people in our line up so the series won’t be long! I decided to start with our fearless leader, Randy Kimball.
How long have you been logging? - Since I was about 4 years old! I used to have to nap in the skidder. Pretty sure my dad was changing my younger brother’s diapers on the landing.
What was your first job?- I started working at Chipman farms when I was 12 or 14. I rode my bike over 10 miles to pick strawberries, corn, beans, and peas. Eventually, I got to operate tractors which I enjoyed much more! I worked 84 hours one week making $4.38/ hour. I thought I was friggen rich!
If you were not a logger what would you be doing?- I would own my own Harley shop.
What 3 words would you use to describe Kimball & Sons Logging?- experienced, professional, responsible
Who is your hero?- I don’t have a hero

Whats your favorite TV show? - Blacklist and Yellowstone
Have you ever been on vacation? - if thats what you call it. Chrissy and I stupidly drove to Bristol, TN for a NASCAR race. Truth be told, it wasn’t much fun. I like to be home.

What are you afraid of? - Water. I can’t swim well
What does a typical day look like for you? wake up at 4:30, sit down for a cup of coffee and search craigslist or look at Google earth to find woodlots, go to work at 5/5:30, start equipment, let it warm up, cut wood all day, do some maintenance, leave work at about 5:30. Scroll some social media, eat dinner with the family, drink a cold brewski with the wife on the porch while the kids play outside, put kids to bed then pass out. Repeat
