GENERATIONS OF WOODSMEN

THE KIMBALL PROMISE

We adhere to all standards set forth by the Master Logger Certification program. This means, at Kimball & Son's Logging, we promise to take special care of your land to maintain its natural habitat. We commit to making your wood harvest as profitable as possible. Our team of Master Loggers personally identifies each species & assess the quality and value of every single tree that comes to the landing. By adding this personal interaction to each tree, we're able to be more efficient, reduce cost, and improve profit for the land owner.

WHO WE SERVE

Kimball & Sons Logging offers ‘cut to length’ timber harvesting. With this approach, the tree is felled and processed in the woods and the brush is left in the forest as opposed to being chipped. The residual brush and tree tops are used to protect the trail that the wood is hauled out on. Each woodlot is unique and every landowner has their individual goals for their land.

Cut to Length Timber Harvesting might be a good fit for you if:

  1. You need a selective harvest of 10 or more acres.

  2. You’re looking for a lower impact on the soil.

  3. The space for a full landing is limited.

  4. You’re looking for better utilization of the tree.

Who we are Not

We are not a tree servicing company. We are not equipped for tree removal in and around homes, bodies of water, and power lines.

Testimonials

I just wanted to give a thumbs up, you folks did a land clearing for me many years ago. And I wanted to say, there has never been a better logger to deal with or more professional logging business to deal with, than you folks. Top notch and glad to see you all are still logging.
— Mark Dodge
Anytime you can do a project like this (a forest thinning project at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery) and have the public support it that’s good,” says Jeff Tarling. “It’s a great thing to see it done right. Having the right contractor... is important. Jeff Tarling is the Portland, ME city arborist, forestry and horticulture manager, and he credits the good work by the Kimballs as an important piece of overcoming many residents’ worries about logging in an area they use for recreation.
— Jeff Tarling

There is a reason why Kimball Logging has earned the credential, Master Logger. They are exceptional professional loggers and they truly care for their clients, for the forest, and for the long term sustainability of the forest value chain. In the future, I know that we can trust the work they do and there is no need to add a layer of oversight to their work because I’m confident that the job will not only be done right, it will go beyond our expectations.
— Dana Doran- Landowner & Executive Director Professional Logging Contractors of Maine

About Kimball Logging

My name is Randy Kimball. Essentially, I was raised in the woods watching my dad start his logging company with nothing more than a chainsaw and a cable skidder. He started Kimball Logging in 1989 and we have been proudly serving the good folks of Androscoggin, Cumberland, Oxford, Sagadahoc Counties in Central & Southern Maine.

As a teenager, I started working in the woods everyday after school. I was fortunate to learn the craft up-close-and-personal and see the value in a days work. It was this commitment to hard work that made me aspire to help grow the business and in 2014 became equal partners with my dad.

Today, together with my father, we are now a fully mechanized operation and adhere to the highest quality standards. This commitment to quality has been recognized by Northeast Master Logger who validate harvesting practices.
